Can I purchase a Windows XP license through the State of Texas DIR contract?
Only a Windows XP Upgrade license is available through this contract. You are eligible to upgrade to Microsoft Windows XP Professional only if you are a licensed user of one of these products: Windows 98, Windows 98 SE, Windows ME, Windows NT Workstation 4.0, Windows 2000 Professional, Windows XP Home Edition. If you are building new machines or purchasing a new machine, you must make sure each system is licensed for one of the Operating System licenses above (typically with an OEM operating system purchased pre-installed on the computer from the computer manufacturer) before purchasing the Upgrade Windows XP Professional license available on the DIR Price List. Why is Office Pro for the Mac not available under the State of Texas Select contract?
Office v. X for Mac Professional Edition with Virtual PC for Mac version 6.1 was excluded from Microsoft volume licensing programs because it requires a specialized full packaged product edition of the Windows operating system. In order for this copy of Virtual PC for Mac version 6.1 to run, it requires this specialized full package product edition of the Windows operating system. That specialized edition of the operating system is not offered under the Microsoft volume licensing programs.
